Montebello communal pool
Montebello urbanisation in Algorfa, consists of 177 homes, a communal pool, a small commercial centre, which house Monty's Bar and Studio Six Hairdressers. Until recently, there was also a fish and chip shop and small local store.

Built in about 1999/2000, the urbanisation is surrounded by orange groves on 3 sides, and faces the AP-7 motorway. A rail link used to run to Torrevieja from Creviellente, but this was closed down to make way for the motorway. Its station building has just been renovated and is to be used by university students, as a study centre for local botany, which is of considerable importance in the area.

There are plans to build a new commercial centre on the site of the Grupomasa building depot and a couple of concrete works. This will bring about a vast improvement to the access roads, and will see the demolition of the ramshackle "Club Laura" which still operated as a place of ill-repute until after the urbanisation was inhabited. Needless to say, its closure was welcomed by the residents.

There is a mix of permanent resident and holiday home properties, and about 2/3 is occupied full time. The communal pool makes a welcome retreat from the hot summer days, and although not heated, the water is warm in summer (July/August).

There is a very active urbanisation committe, which works to ensure standards are kept high.

June 7th 2008 saw the first urbanisation "fiesta day", where local people contributed  stalls and games to the event, which was organised jointly and partly funded by the Town Hall. It is hoped that this will become an annual event, to be enjoyed by all.
